Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in CVICU License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus Must-Have: - 2 solid years of CVICU experience - Ability to take care of patients without issue right away - Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, and organization - Ability to follow protocols and orders - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment - Time management skills - Positive attitude and teamwork Description: Unit has 20 beds, all private and monitored. Nurse-Patient Ratios vary from 1:1, 1:2, to 2:1 depending on patient acuity. Patient population includes post open heart surgical patients. Common diagnoses include CABG, valve replacements, dissections, AAA, and more. Specialty intervention equipment includes IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, and others. Experience with multiple drips is required, including titrate and set rate drips. Charge nurses are available 24/7 and may take assignments. Patient care techs are present with varying ratios. Providers are on-site or on call 24/7. Respiratory therapists are available 24/7. Nurses are expected to read and interpret cardiac strips. Shifts are 12 hours with mandatory every other weekend and holiday coverage. Floating to every level of care is required. Professional appearance must be maintained. Candidates should be proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components. Cancellation policy allows for client cancellation up to 12 hours every 13 weeks. Charting is done using an EPIC system.
