Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI required; NIHSS and CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Strong skills and experience in cardiac intensive care - Experience with IABP and Impella Description: Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit. Working nights for 36 hours per week. Weekends and holidays required as scheduled. Experience in CICU/CVICU is preferred. Will accept first-time travelers with strong CVICU experience. Patient age group includes adults and geriatrics. The unit has a capacity of 15 beds, with an average daily census of 10 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1, up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients. Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and heart failure. Additional diagnoses include cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarction. Advanced therapy workups include LVAD and heart transplants. Special procedures in the unit include bedside central line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, and Swan/Ganz catheter insertion. The unit uses specialized equipment such as Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ventilators. Nurses are required to float within the specialty and to lower acuity units as needed. Scheduled on-call shifts are not required. Nurses may be required to assist with various critical care procedures. Compliance with infection prevention protocols is essential. Continuous education and adherence to clinical guidelines are expected.
