Description:
This position involves working in a 16-bed intensive care unit.
The patient ratios are typically 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity.
The unit is staffed with RNs only; there are no unit secretaries or patient care technicians available.
Common equipment used includes Ventilators, Telemetry, Baxter IV Pump, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, and Impella.
Documentation is managed through an electronic system.
Scheduling requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with alternating weekends.
Travelers may float to various areas as needed.
ICU experience is mandatory for this role.
Familiarity with titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics is essential.
Candidates should have experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, and telemetry interpretation.
A thorough understanding of hemodynamics, PA catheter setup and interpretation, as well as advanced skills such as intra-aortic balloon pump management and continuous renal replacement therapy, are desirable.
Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis.
The dress code requires adherence to specific scrub colors, with no pullovers or hoodies allowed.
Candidates should be aware that non-compliance with the uniform policy will not be permitted.
