Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years in CVICU required; first-time travelers with CVICU experience accepted License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIH preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in CVICU - BLS and ACLS certifications required - CPI certification preferred Description: The position requires a registered nurse to work in a cardiovascular intensive care unit. The schedule is for three 12-hour night shifts. The candidate will be required to rotate to day shifts based on the unit's needs. The role includes managing post-operative cardiac surgery patients. Common patient diagnoses include CABG, MVR, AVR, and structural heart procedures. Nurses will need to manage patients with hemodynamic instability and extreme coagulopathy. The position entails administering multiple inotropic medications in the first 6 hours post-operation. Nurses will support patients on advanced cardiac technologies such as ECMO and CRRT. Weekend coverage is required every third weekend. Holidays will be worked as scheduled. Nurses may need to float to the medical-surgical ICU as needed. On-call duties will range from 24 to 32 hours per rotating schedule. The average daily census will be between 3 to 5 patients. The unit consists of 6 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2. Candidates should be comfortable with various nursing skills and procedures in a critical care setting. Strong experience in charting using the Epic system is necessary. Additional responsibilities may include administering emergency medications and monitoring cardiac rhythms.
