Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years, with at least 1 year in an ICU License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: 36 months of RN experience, with at least one of those years in an ICU. One previous successful travel nursing assignment, preferably in a facility that used Meditech. Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients and comfort in managing patients on the ventilator. Proficiency in reading telemetry strips. Prior experience in Cardiovascular ICU. Description: Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. The traveler is expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. Number of beds in the unit is 28, mixed ICU. Patient ratios are 1:2, 1:3, holding inpatient PCU/med surg admissions. Unit staffing consists of registered nurses. Equipment includes i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels. Documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling requirements include 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, to include every other weekend. Travelers are the first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU to take care of PCU or ICU holds. Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff. Advanced skills needed include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy. Nurses administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU, including inhalers and nebulizers. Procedures performed on the unit include post-operative day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, experience with EVDs, and induced hypothermia are important. BSN and advanced certifications are preferred, as well as TNCC certification. Dress code consists of navy uniforms. The unit is willing to train travelers interested in becoming skilled in Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU nursing. Travelers will also have the ability to train for patient care involving head and neck flap procedures.
