Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: CVICU experience required Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required 2 years of charge experience preferred License: RN license required Certifications: AHA BLS ACLS Basic Arrhythmia experience required Must-Have: Telemetry test must be passed before starting. Description: Evening/Night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30, with every other weekend and some holidays, no call. Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas preferred. The unit specializes in the care of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and cardiac medical care. Daily census of around 26 patients with 27 private rooms capable of ICU-level care. Nursing teams typically consist of 2 Care Team Leaders and 16 RNs in direct patient care assignments. Patient assignments generally involve caring for 1-2 patients, but may increase to 3 under certain conditions. The nursing unit is dynamic, with frequent changes in patient assignments as patients are admitted or discharged. Staff are supported by interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy services. Required skills include managing and accessing ports, arterial line management, and care of ventilated patients. Knowledge of CRRT, IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, and experience with various cardiac devices is necessary. Staff are expected to ensure care meets both patient and family needs, providing specialized attention for complex cases. Telemetry exam is required before starting the position with strict pass/fail criteria. Travelers must float as needed based on staffing requirements.
