Job Title: CVICU RN Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with cardiovascular patient population Description: Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles. Candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN in any associated facilities. A driver's license is required for consideration. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will result in termination of contract. RNs must pass an open-book exam during orientation, requiring a 90% to pass. The unit supports patients recovering from open-heart, thoracic, and vascular surgeries. Common diagnoses include patients stabilized by impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO. Skills required include titrating various medications such as vasopressors, paralytics, and antiarrhythmics. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who takes an assignment. No Certified Nursing Assistants are available; all care is provided by RNs. Hospitalists and Intensivists are in-house 24/7. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment. No Telemetry/Monitor Technicians are present; RNs must read and interpret their own strips. Scheduling will be managed by the Nurse Manager. Weekends and holidays are required based on unit needs. Floating to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity and NICU, is expected. Navy blue scrubs are required. The charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required. Candidates must have certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
