Job Title: CVICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year experience with cardiovascular intensive care patient population - Ability to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics - Capability to read and interpret cardiac strips Description: This position requires care for patients recovering from open heart, thoracic, and vascular surgeries. Patients may be stabilized and supported by advanced life support technologies. Common diagnoses include complex cardiac surgeries and procedures. The unit does not have patient care technicians. Nurses will have a charge nurse on each shift. The charge nurse may take an assignment. There will be hospitalists and intensivists available in-house 24/7. Nurses are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. There are no telemetry or monitor technicians on the unit. Nurses will interpret their own cardiac monitoring strips. Shifts will include every other weekend and holiday requirements. Floating to inpatient units may be required, excluding maternity and NICU. The dress code will consist of navy blue scrubs. RTO requests must be submitted upfront and additional requests will not be approved. Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shifts to be canceled during the contract. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
