Job Responsibility

  • Unit Information:
  • Beds: 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms
  • Minimum Years of Experience required – 2 years Critical Care (Resource Team requirement)
  • Will you accept a first-time traveler – Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • STEMI (unstable), cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, thoracic surgery
  • CT Surgery to include CABG, Valve, Dissection


Skills required:
  • Management of vasoactive medications, various surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, CRRT
  • Invasive lines, including arterial lines, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers
  • Management of invasive devices, including IABP, Impella
  • Support within the Department:
  • Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment
  • IV/VAT Team? yes
  • RT 24/7
  • Intensivist 24/7 (unit based)
  • Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Phillips
  • Floating: Within region and scope of practice (Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only)))


Orientation (facility and unit):
  • Orientation (facility and unit): NEO, 2 days departmental

Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: every other; No call; Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours; Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
