Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN license required Certifications: CCRN recommended Must-Have: - Titration of vesicant medications - Familiarity with pressors - Sedation and paralytics experience - Experience with ventilators - Experience with tracheostomies - Telemetry interpretation skills - Understanding of hemodynamics - PA catheter setup and interpretation - Transvenous pacing experience - Cardioversion experience - Familiarity with chest tube insertions and maintenance Description: Tobacco use is prohibited on all campus properties. The unit consists of 16 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity. The unit is staffed only with registered nurses, and there are no health unit coordinators or patient care technicians. Types of equipment include vents, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, and Impella. The documentation system used is Cerner. Travelers are expected to float to all areas as per the floating policy. ICU experience is a requirement for this position. Advanced skills that are desirable include IABP, Impella, and CRRT. Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis. Dress code requirements include adherence to specific scrub colors, with no pullovers or hoodies and no green scrubs unless uniform is soiled. Candidates are encouraged to consider joining a unit with advanced equipment and technology, experienced staff, and positive scheduling options.
