Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT Description: This position is in a 16-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit. Patient ratios are 1:2 and 1:1 for certain device patients. Free-floating charge nurse is available to assist staff. A unit secretary and Administrative Care Tech are present Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Student Nurse Externs assist nurses by performing tech duties on variable shifts. Type of equipment includes Philips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps. The documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requirements include working 2 weekends per month and 1 summer holiday. There are also expectations to work 2 winter holidays. Floating may occur to other intensive care units or other floors as needed. No specific patient experience requirements exist. The unit performs care for immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO and various devices. Central line insertion, Swan insertion, and intubations are performed within the unit. The team comprises experienced professionals with a strong commitment to teamwork. This unit has received the HCA Unit of Distinction Award and a Daisy Award. The unit specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery care and advanced cardiac devices. An intensivist is assigned to the unit 24/7. New equipment and technology contribute to enhanced care. Staff has a high level of tenure and experience.
