- Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients and comfort in managing patients on a ventilator
- Proficient in reading telemetry strips
- Prior CVICU experience
Description:
Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy.
The traveler is expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees.
The unit has 28 mixed ICU beds with patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:3, holding inpatient PCU and Med Surg admissions.
The unit staffing description consists of RNs.
Type of equipment includes mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels.
The documentation system in use is Meditech.
Staffing requirements are for 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, including every other weekend.
Travelers are the first to float, and any traveler could be sent to the emergency department or PCU for PCU or ICU holds.
Patient handoff occurs using bedside shift report for each transfer of care.
Advanced skills needed include CRRT and advanced hemodynamics.
Phlebotomy is required, and nurses administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU.
Procedures performed in the unit include post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics.
Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts, and Arctic Sun for induced hypothermia is preferred.
A BSN is preferred, along with advanced certifications and TNCC certification.
Dress code requires a navy uniform.
