Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Full-Time | Onsite | Nights (3x12, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend coverage required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a Cardiac Stepdown unit for patients with diagnoses including CAD status post CABG, cardiac valve repair, lung cancer status post VATS, and esophageal cancer
- Monitor and manage cardiac drips and insulin drips for post-surgical cardiovascular patients
- Interpret and respond to EKG findings; must pass a pre-start EKG competency exam
- Administer and manage medications using the Omnicell medication system
- Document all patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic medical records system
- Float to other units and campuses as needed based on census, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
Required Qualifications- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC EMR experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 3 years of experience within the Cardiac Stepdown specialty
- Must pass a pre-start EKG competency exam
- Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drips required
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience caring for post-surgical cardiovascular patients
- Familiarity with the Omnicell medication management system
- Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac or progressive care setting
