Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite | Every other weekend required; weekend schedule subject to change based on need
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a Cardiac Stepdown unit for patients with diagnoses including CAD s/p CABG, cardiac valve repair, lung cancer s/p VATS, and esophageal cancer
- Monitor and manage post-surgical cardiovascular patients, including those requiring cardiac drips and insulin drips
- Administer and reconcile medications using the Omnicell medication system
- Interpret and respond to EKG findings; must pass a pre-start EKG competency exam
- Float to other units or campuses as needed based on census, performing only tasks within demonstrated and documented competencies
- Complete required pre-assignment modules and annual modules as directed
Required Qualifications- Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Cardiac Stepdown or equivalent unit (3 years within specialty required for first-time travelers)
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience
- Experience with cardiac drips and insulin drip management
- Must pass pre-start EKG competency exam
Preferred Experience / Skills- 2 or more years of overall RN experience in the field
- Experience caring for post-surgical cardiovascular patients
- Familiarity with Omnicell medication management systems
