Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (PCU)

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Cardiac/Telemetry PCU Stepdown unit managing higher-acuity cardiac patients including post-cath, AMI, post-PCI, post-operative lung surgery, respiratory failure, chest tubes, and pacemaker patients
- Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
- Monitor, read, and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring systems in collaboration with monitor technicians
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 for PCU acuity and up to 1:5 for MedSurg/Tele acuity; participate in team nursing model alongside CNA support
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy staff managing CPAP and BiPap equipment; administer care per unit protocols
- Float to MedSurg/Telemetry units as needed and participate in holiday and every-other-weekend rotation schedules
Required Qualifications- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS certification
- Stepdown or PCU nursing experience required; ability to manage higher-acuity cardiac patients
- Demonstrated ability to titrate IV drips including cardiac and vasoactive medications
- Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
- No artificial/false nails permitted per unit policy
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience with post-cath, post-PCI, chest tube, and pacemaker patient populations
- Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
- Experience working in a team nursing model alongside CNA or PCT support staff
