Location: Petoskey, MI

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night), 36-hour guarantee per week; specific start/end times vary by assignment and will be provided

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor cardiovascular patients on the telemetry/stepdown unit with sharp clinical judgment
  • Interpret EKGs and respond quickly to arrhythmias and other cardiac events
  • Provide post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients (18–24 hour postop management)
  • Manage congestive heart failure patients and collaborate on individualized care plans
  • Support electrophysiology procedures and follow-up care for device patients
  • Float to similar units as needed to ensure safe staffing and continuity of care
  • Participate in clinical trials and research activities when applicable, documenting accurately
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote positive outcomes
Qualifications
  • Active RN license — Michigan (LARA and Nursys verification required)
  • Minimum 1+ year of Stepdown/Telemetry experience (required)
  • Proficiency in cardiac nursing and comfort with EKG interpretation (required)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
  • Willingness to work a travel assignment and float to similar units (required)
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment caring for complex cardiac patients
Education
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required — nursing degree (ASN/ADN or BSN) as applicable for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
  • Telemetry monitoring and EKG rhythm recognition
  • Post-operative cardiac nursing and wound/line management
  • Management of congestive heart failure and advanced cardiac therapies
  • Familiarity with PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers
  • Experience with electrophysiology studies and device management
  • Solid clinical documentation, patient education, and team collaboration skills
  • Comfort functioning in medical-surgical and stroke unit care as needed
