Job Title: Cardiac Cath RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 9-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 4 x 9's with Call Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Illinois RN License or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Previous cath lab experience Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate drips Familiarity with most IV medications Experience with peripheral angiography cases and interventional radiology Description: The Cardiac Cath RN will work in a fast-paced cardiac cath lab setting. The unit has 2 labs and 6 pre/post beds. On average, there are 3 cardiac catheterizations and 2 angiograms performed each day. Common patient diagnoses include STEMI and stroke. Procedures performed will include drain placement, line placement, all types of heart caths, peripheral angiographies, IVC filter placement, and temporary pacemaker insertion. The RN will be responsible for monitoring the patient during procedures and must be able to demonstrate proficiency in relevant skills. The position requires on-call responsibilities 2-3 nights per week, every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year. The dress code consists of hospital-provided scrubs. Unit-specific orientation will typically last for one week, encompassing 4 shifts. The electronic medical record system utilized is Epic, and equipment includes Philips monitoring equipment. A charge nurse is available on each shift. Cath lab technicians will also be present to assist with procedures.
