Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiology Duration: 9 months Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 9 AM - 5 PM Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; 2 years current med/surg with telemetry experience; 1 year travel experience for travel positions (not required for per diem positions) License: Client RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Previous cardiology experience Experience with EPIC messages EKG course completion Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of professional practice and through the application of the nursing process. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching and planning after hospital care, and delegates to others as appropriate. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team. Manages assignments within the care delivery model and demonstrates allocation of material resources effectively. Role models relationship-centered care through facilitation of various patient care activities. Considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and families who have concerns and escalates to appropriate management as needed. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served. Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional evidence-based procedures. Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice activities. Contributes to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures. Implements high reliability principles to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to provide a safe environment for patients. Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits to the appropriate management. Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care. Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues, patients, and their families. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert. Projects a professional image and communicates in a caring and respectful manner. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families. Encourages and demonstrates a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, and lifelong learning. Participates in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
