Requirements:

  • Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice
  • CPR/BLS certification required (ACLS preferred depending on facility)
  • Experience in Behavioral Health, Detox, Psychiatric, or Substance Abuse settings preferred
  • Strong assessment skills for withdrawal and mental health conditions
  • Ability to manage high-acuity behavioral situations calmly and professionally


Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on detox and behavioral health patients
  • Monitor and manage withdrawal symptoms (alcohol, opioids, substances, etc.)
  • Administer medications, including MAT and PRN medications as ordered
  • Observe and respond to behavioral changes, mental health symptoms, and clinical deterioration
  • Ensure patient safety, including suicide risk and elopement precautions when applicable
  • Document clinical findings, interventions, and patient response accurately
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, counselors, and interdisciplinary treatment teams
  • Support admission, intake screening, and discharge planning
  • Provide patient education related to recovery, relapse prevention, and medication compliance
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
