Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Behavioral Health/Geriatric Psychiatry contract assignment at a leading academic medical center in New York City. This opportunity is open to both local and travel nurses.
The RN will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health unit while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care to behavioral health and geriatric psychiatric patients.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients' mental and physical health status.
- Administer medications and treatments safely.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and utilize de-escalation techniques.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, and case managers.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge planning.
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR.
- Follow all hospital policies related to quality, infection prevention, and patient safety.
Qualifications- Active New York State RN License
- BLS Certification
- CPI or PMCS Certification (Required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent Behavioral Health, Psychiatric, or Geriatric Psychiatry experience
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Education
- BSN preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing accepted with relevant experience or active enrollment in a BSN program
