Job Summary
Join MarinHealth Medical Network, a UCSF Affiliate, as a Cardiology Registered Nurse in Larkspur, California. This role is integral to a collaborative team environment, coordinating comprehensive patient care across the Cardiology Clinic, EP/Afib Clinic, and Testing Center.
The Cardiology RN is responsible for performing nursing assessments, identifying patient problems, developing and implementing care plans, and reporting complex clinical data to cardiologists and electrophysiologists. This position plays a vital role in patient education, disease prevention, and ensuring seamless transitions of care for individuals with cardiovascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre- and post-operative education for cardiology and electrophysiology procedures.
- Educate patients on their cardiovascular conditions, treatment options, and self-monitoring techniques as directed by providers.
- Offer resources and guidance to patients for preventing the worsening of cardiovascular conditions.
- Triage patients' physical symptoms and arrhythmias, consulting with cardiologists or electrophysiologists per established protocols.
- Support the RN Testing Center and Cardiac PET CT Imaging procedures as needed.
- Participate in Transition of Care Management, ensuring patient and family understanding of discharge medications and instructions.
- Update medication and problem lists within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and facilitate follow-up appointments with cardiologists.
- Review daily lab/test results, physician tasks, and clinical worklists.
- Assist the Nurse Supervisor and/or Director in matters related to nursing practices and contribute to the development of patient care policies and protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of cardiovascular clinic experience and/or hospital nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Two (2) years of experience in a critical care or cardiac inpatient unit.
- Two (2) years of experience with telemetry monitoring.
Skills & Competencies
- Comprehensive patient assessment and care planning.
- Expertise in cardiovascular and electrophysiology patient education.
- Proficient in patient triage and symptom management.
- Ability to interpret and report complex clinical data.
- Experience with cardiac testing procedures (e.g., Cardiac PET CT Imaging).
- Strong understanding of Transition of Care Management principles.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Adherence to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.

Licensing Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
