Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is an advanced imaging specialist responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals used in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This role involves operating specialized imaging systems, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to strict radiation protection standards while working closely with the healthcare team to produce accurate diagnostic images. Key Responsibilities: Educate patients on nuclear medicine procedures and respond to questions to ensure understanding and comfort Inspect, maintain, and monitor nuclear medicine equipment, reporting any technical issues and ensuring compliance with radiation safety requirements Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and other prescribed medications according to established protocols and safety guidelines Observe patients for any adverse reactions to radioactive substances or administered medications and intervene as necessary to ensure safety Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic images of organs and body systems as ordered by physicians Accurately document procedural details in patient records to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and radiation safety standards to minimize exposure risks to patients and staff Perform additional responsibilities within the scope of Nuclear Medicine Technologist practice as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong critical thinking abilities, commitment to service excellence, and effective communication skills Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to interpret written instructions, follow verbal directions, and use computer systems effectively Physical capability to remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the department, and lift or maneuver equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude Fine motor skills and coordination required for handling equipment and performing procedures Ability to manage frequent patient interaction while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Capacity to work independently or with limited supervision when needed Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and maintain close attention to detail Adequate visual acuity and communication skills necessary to safely and effectively perform job duties
