Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3/4 NICU position requiring 2+ years of high acuity NICU experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • .Location: Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital with 247 licensed beds
  • Unit: NICU with 53 beds plus overflow, average census of 58
  • Patient population includes respiratory, cardiac, neuro, GI/GU, and musculoskeletal diagnoses common to Level 3/4 NICU care
  • Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required: 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend (Sat/Sun) within a 6-week schedule
  • No on-call requirements; if NICU census is low, travelers may float to similar units
  • Floating required to Neonatal PCU, Pediatric CVICU, PICU, and general Peds as needed
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled, including eve/day before and day of holiday every other holiday

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced NICU environment
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skills required include EVDs, Camino device (ICP/temp monitoring), vasoactive drip titration, arterial/CVP line management, ventilator and trach management, HFOV management, chest tube and PCA management, and bedside procedure assistance
  • CRRT and baby-side ECMO experience preferred but not required
  • Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a high-acuity, fast-paced NICU supporting complex respiratory, cardiac, neuro, and surgical cases
  • Work alongside a full multidisciplinary team, including charge nurses, RT, intensivists, residents, APPs, and unit-based educators, all available 24/7
  • Utilize advanced technology including Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, PIV ultrasound, and MOMs breast milk scanning system
  • Two-day departmental orientation provided in addition to general NEO orientation
  • Scrub color is solid Navy or White; must adhere to 'Bare Below Elbow' practice guidelines with no jewelry, watches, or artificial nails in nursery areas
  • Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Local candidates are not accepted under the facility's radius rule
  • Manager approval required for first-time travelers depending on current staffing needs
  • RTO requests are discouraged; significant time off needs may require contract extension
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position to be eligible
