Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring 3+ years of NICU experience and proficiency with ventilators, oscillators, and micro preemies.

Details

Level III Neonatal ICU setting within a hospital
Patient population ranges from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age
Neonates are primarily admitted from labor and delivery
Respond to neonatal emergencies and attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, High Frequency Oscillation, and nitric oxide inhalation therapy
3x12-hour shifts on an AM/PM rotation
On-call responsibilities required

Requirements

Active RN license in the District of Columbia (no pending licenses accepted)
Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE (AHA certifications only)
Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
Must have at least 2 years of prior work experience in a US hospital in the NICU specialty
Experience with ventilators, oscillators, pressors, and care of micro preemies required
Skilled in bedside procedures including peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, and administration of blood and blood products

Additional Information

Provide assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery requiring closer observation
Assist with bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and parent teaching
Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside
Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the previous 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates within this radius are accepted
