Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a CA RN license and a minimum of 3 years of Level IV NICU experience for a travel assignment requiring variable day/night rotating shifts.

Details

  • Level IV NICU at an academic medical center
  • Neonatal patient population ranging from less than 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation, including complex surgical and cardiac cases
  • 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 days / 19:00–7:30 nights); variable shift scheduling required — straight days will not be accommodated
  • Specialized procedures include vent management, trach management, telemetry, pulmonary artery lines, umbilical/central line management, and chest tube management
  • UVC and UAC experience required
  • Floating required to PICU, CICU, and other affiliated facilities within a 75+ mile radius
  • Charting system: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license currently in hand required
  • BSN required
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NRP; STABLE preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level III–IV NICU required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Competency floating to PICU and CICU required
  • Travel experience not required

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include care of complex neonates including those requiring ECMO, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, nitric oxide, CRRT, and post-cardiac surgery management
  • Prior employment at any University of California medical facility or affiliated facility must be disclosed, including dates worked, units, and manager names, for a rehire eligibility check
  • Two professional references from most recent employer required for consideration
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • All RTO requests must be submitted at time of offer; no additional requests will be accepted mid-contract, and RTO is not permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Pre-start and annual modules are required and are non-billable up to 24 hours; anything beyond 24 hours is billable
  • Travel pairs are permitted but will generally not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
