Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience, a VA or compact RN license, and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

  • Peds Float Pool position floating across PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby units at a teaching hospital
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Active VA state RN license or compact license required (pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years PICU experience required, with comfort in NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
  • Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
  • Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous NICU/PICU float pool travel experience required or strongly preferred
  • Peds PACU experience highly preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric and neonatal units based on facility staffing needs
  • Responsibilities may include respiratory care, IV therapy, medication administration, and monitoring depending on unit assignment
  • Level III NICU and Pediatric CVICU experience valued for this role
  • Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
  • Previous employees who worked as permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching that limit
  • No radius restriction for this position
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
