Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring Level III/IV NICU experience and a willingness to float across multiple units and campuses.

Details

  • Work in the NICU unit of a children's hospital setting
  • Care for neonatal patients including those less than 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and greater than 34 weeks gestation
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12 hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Float requirement to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, MS, and rarely to ED
  • Float requirement to BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU with average length of stay of 2-3 years, requiring comfort with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
  • Float requirement to other campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (OH State or Compact) required in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP required, PALS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC required
  • Experience with neonatal dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, and emergency medications required
  • Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) and various respiratory support equipment required
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries required
  • Two professional references required at time of consideration, at least one from a manager or supervisor (charge references not accepted)
  • Must not have worked in a permanent role at this health system within the last 2 years

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine/metabolic, neurologic, and infectious disease management
  • Skilled care includes therapeutic hypothermia, seizure disorder management, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and post-abdominal surgery care
  • Interview process includes an initial screening with the Float Pool Leader within 24-48 hours of submission, followed by a second interview at the discretion of the NICU unit manager
  • Floating to different units and campuses is a strong point of emphasis and expected of all travelers in this role
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 60-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
