Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and float availability across multiple units and campuses.

Details

  • Work in the NICU of a children's hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Patient population includes neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Float requirement to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, MS units, and rarely to ED
  • Float requirement to BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU with average length of stay of 2-3 years, requiring comfort with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
  • Float requirement to other campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (OH State or Compact) in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP required; PALS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience with high-acuity respiratory support including ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and nitric oxide therapy preferred
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, ICP monitoring, and VP shunts preferred
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries preferred
  • 2 supervisory/manager-titled references required at time of consideration
  • Cannot have worked as permanent staff for this health system within the last 2 years

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates across a wide range of gestational ages and acuity levels
  • Manage complex respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic conditions in the neonatal population
  • Perform specialized procedures including lumbar puncture assistance, blood product administration, and central line blood draws
  • Support families with breastfeeding, colostomy/ileostomy care, and neonatal abstinence syndrome management
  • Two-part interview process: initial screening with Float Pool Leader within 24-48 hours, followed by potential unit manager interview
  • Floating to different units and campuses is a significant expectation for this assignment
  • Local candidates are not permitted for this position; a 60-mile radius restriction applies
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
