Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin responsible for providing specialized care to high-risk newborns in a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III NICU. The role involves managing respiratory support, central lines, IV therapy, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift with 12 hours per shift and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and STABLE certifications; must have Level III NICU experience, providing care for high-risk newborns; at least 2 years of NICU experience; located in Wisconsin; valid nursing license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with complex neonatal support, familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system.
- Support on the Unit: 24/7 charge nurse, respiratory therapy, neonatologists, nurse manager, nurse educator, lactation consultants, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, case management, pharmacy, dietician, chaplain.
- Charting System/Equipment: EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Angel Eye milk tracker, GE B450 cardiac monitoring, Medela feeding pumps, Arctic Sun cooling device.
- Orientation: First day with nurse manager and nurse educator followed by unit training; subsequent days with preceptor and work buddy; each traveler will have their own patient assignment.
- Scheduling: Includes weekend rotations, every other weekend, with flexible scheduling based on staffing needs; no set or pattern schedules; time off requests require nurse manager approval; no on-call duties; every other holiday based on start date.
- Floating: First to the Womens Care Center for newborn care only; float first for travelers.
- Additional Information: Scrub color and parking details specified as per facility policies.
