Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro ICU position at an academic medical center in St. Louis, MO, requiring 2 years of experience, strong neuro skills, and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Neuro ICU setting within a 356-bed non-profit academic medical center and tertiary care facility affiliated with a university school of medicine
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Patient ratio of 1:1
  • Floating required to ICU, TCU/PCU, and all hospital care areas, including the ED for admitted ICU and TCU/PCU holds
  • Epic EMR required — experience is a hard requirement, not optional
  • On-site parking garage available at no cost

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Strong neuro skills required; formal Neuro ICU work history preferred but not strictly required
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Skilled in neurological care including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and TBI
  • Skilled in respiratory/thoracic care including ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • Travelers may not work at this facility for more than 1 cumulative year; a 6-month break is required before returning as a traveler
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins; RN modules may take up to 5–6 hours
  • Fit testing for respiratory masks is required — candidates must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal; CAPRs and PAPRs are not provided or permitted, and no medical or religious exemptions are accepted
  • Navy blue scrubs required
