Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Multi-Specialty ICU position requiring a WI or compact RN license and 3 years of critical care experience.

Details

  • >Level II Trauma Center with a 36-bed Multi-Specialty ICU covering high acuity neuro, post-cardiovascular surgery, medical, surgical, and trauma patients
  • CRRT patients included, with no pediatrics, burns, or transplant patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour day shift schedule starting at 7am, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • Floating required to all MedSurg units in rotation
  • No standard on-call requirements, though occasional on-call may apply
  • Support staff includes CNAs at 1:12 ratio, centralized and bedside tele monitoring, 24-hour intensivist coverage, mid-level coverage, a full-time ICU educator, and a CV coordinator
  • Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
  • Experience with trachs, vents, chest tubes, vasoactive drips, procedural recoveries, and temporary pacemakers required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Special competencies for post-cardiovascular recovery, CRRT, and neuro patients not required, as contract staff will not be assigned to these populations
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • COVID vaccine required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a multi-specialty ICU population including neuro, post-cardiovascular surgery, medical, surgical, and trauma patients
  • Utilize Alaris and Pyxis equipment alongside EPIC charting
  • One shift of orientation provided on the unit
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the assignment
  • Scrubs of any color are accepted
  • Free parking available outside the inpatient entrance
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for this travel position
