Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience, ACLS/BLS certification, and a PA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Med/Surg-Tele unit of a hospital setting
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend requirement, likely every other weekend
  • Patient ratio of 1:5/6
  • Floating required to all Med/Surg floors and potentially rehab
  • No on-call requirements
  • Holiday coverage as needed
  • Units include 2East (post-op open heart surgery patients), 4East (peritoneal dialysis, respiratory), 3South (cardiac disease and stroke), and 3East (joint replacements, observation, fast turnaround)
  • May care for COVID-positive patients
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg-Tele experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration), cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, wound care, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, renal failure management, CVA and neurosurgical care, and total joint replacement preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg-Tele population including post-cardiac surgery, renal, neurological, and orthopedic patients
  • Work closely with CHF and Stroke Program Coordinators for patient education initiatives
  • Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
  • Travelers will receive 1 day of orientation before being expected to take assignments
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Local candidates within 50 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
  • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for this role
