Schedule: 2 x 12-hour shifts and 2 x 8-hour shifts, including Saturday and on-call rotation every 4–6 weeks
Shift Times: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, or 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Job Summary
Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform MRI procedures and related imaging techniques to produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation. The technologist will provide compassionate patient care while ensuring patient safety, technical accuracy, and compliance with imaging protocols. Flexibility for alternate shifts, weekends, and on-call coverage may be required to support departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI procedures and examinations under physician orders for diagnostic interpretation
- Prepare and position patients for MRI procedures while ensuring safety and comfort
- Provide patient education and instructions to reduce anxiety and obtain optimal imaging results
- Apply MRI safety principles to protect patients, staff, and others
- Operate MRI systems, coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated imaging equipment
- Select appropriate imaging protocols and pulse sequences based on physician orders and patient needs
- Perform venipuncture and maintain venous access for contrast administration
- Prepare and administer contrast media following established protocols
- Verify patient consent forms and MRI screening documentation
- Evaluate images for technical quality and accuracy before submission for interpretation
- Manipulate and reconstruct digital imaging data ensuring proper patient identification
- Assist physicians during interventional procedures when required
- Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to universal precautions
- Utilize PACS and radiology information systems to complete documentation and archive images
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations and initiate Basic Life Support (BLS) when necessary
- Provide instruction and support to students and team members
- Participate in departmental projects, committees, and quality improvement initiatives
