Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Technologist Specialty: MRI Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Varied Afternoon/Day Shifts Hours per Shift: 8 Hours Experience: 2+ Years of MRI Experience License: Active MRI Certification through American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certifications: Active American Heart Association BLS Must-Have: - Siemens Experience - Associate Degree - Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty (MRI) - 2 Supervisory Reference Forms Completed within the last two years Description: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, performing magnetic resonance imaging on patients utilizing highly technical equipment and administering contrast materials as required. Prepare the scan room and patient for examination. Draw up IV contrast if needed, administer oral contrast if indicated, perform warm-up procedure on equipment, enter patient data and appropriate scan parameters, review patient data to ensure proper exam, and review previous exams. Interview and screen patients for contraindications prior to having an MRI study, explain the procedure, and answer patient questions. Transport the patient into the exam room, assist the patient in positioning appropriately for the exam, determine if they are allergic to anything, inject appropriate IV contrast, and perform the scan with attention to appropriate positioning. Be alert for the need for additional or thinner slices/images. Utilize correct protocols, coils, restraints, and other materials when scanning. Ensure proper marking regarding the orientation of the patient and enter images with a keypad with attention to the order of images. Prepare records for the radiologist and ensure that all clinical information is complete. Assure that exam images are in the correct order and provide additional information as required.
