Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Allied Specialty: MRI Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1 year minimum License: ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRI Certifications: BLS Must-Have: NC state licensure is not required Description: MRI Technologist position available. Facility has 457 licensed beds and is a Trauma Level III Teaching Hospital. It is recognized as a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence. The facility offers services in X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine, with Radiology Nursing support. Travelers must reside 50 miles outside of the home unit. Department sees an average of 30-40 patients daily. A minimum of 1 year of experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Common patient types and diagnoses include neuro deficits, suspected strokes, seizures, prostate cancer, diabetic foot ulcers, pancreatic cysts, and IBS/Crohn's disease. Department serves Emergency Department, inpatient, observation, and outpatient patients. It cares for a large population of medical device patients and performs cases with anesthesia as needed. Cardiac imaging and pediatric imaging with and without anesthesia are also provided. Responsibilities include examining requests and verifying orders on each patient. Technologist must question orders to the Radiologist before performing the exam or contact the ordering provider when there are discrepancies. Patients must be properly identified using two patient identifiers and assisted while receiving a brief explanation of the procedures. Technologist prepares patients for procedures with full explanations and documentation. Interviews patients to gather complete medical histories and reviews electronic medical records to obtain pertinent clinical information. Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning to completion of dictated results. Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. Evaluates the technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if necessary. Performs basic patient care functions and informs nursing personnel of any changes in patient condition. Initiates life support measures when necessary. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Technological support includes EMR: Epic, RIS: Epic Clientnt, and PACS: Philips iSite. Department-specific equipment includes GE 1.5 SIGNA Artist 450W and Siemens 3T Skyra. Scrub color required is black. Free parking is available.
