Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring EPIC experience and at least 18 months of MICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) of a teaching hospital with short-term acute care services
  • 521 total staffed beds
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Float required across all three hospital campuses (North, South, and Tradition) within 20 miles
  • White scrubs required
  • Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (FL or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS (required at time of submission), and NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start)
  • Minimum 18 months of MICU experience required, 2 years preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and care of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients
  • Experience with arterial line and central line management
  • Proficient in IV therapy, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Skilled in respiratory/thoracic care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator patient care, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • Knowledgeable in isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • Two references required from a direct supervisor, ANM, or director for the unit

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to medically complex ICU patients including those with multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Time-sensitive orientation modules must be completed promptly once assignment is confirmed
  • EKG and pharmacology tests required during orientation with a maximum of two attempts each and no remediation
  • This is a smoke-free facility and all candidates must be nicotine-free with a negative 10-panel drug screen including cotinine
  • Strict no call-in policy is enforced
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront, as later requests are unlikely to be approved
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former permanent or per diem staff must wait one year from their previous end date before returning to this health system
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
