As a Mental Health Technician in our Behavioral Medical Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting patients experiencing emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide direct and indirect patient care while helping create a safe, therapeutic, and compassionate healing environment.

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, hygiene, ambulation, and therapeutic participation
Support psychosocial and behavioral interventions under RN supervision
Conduct patient safety checks and assist with meal supervision
Observe and report behavioral or physical changes to nursing staff
Participate in therapeutic activities and structured group processes
Utilize de-escalation techniques and intervention strategies when necessary
Assist with seclusion and restraint interventions according to policy
Foster a supportive, healing environment through compassionate communication
Encourage patient engagement and coping skill development
Assist with data collection and patient monitoring
Document patient care activities accurately and timely
Prepare admission charts, complete routine forms, and support clerical operations
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to implement individualized care plans
High School Diploma or GED
Current AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS Certification
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
Associate’s or Technical Degree
Two years of behavioral healthcare experience
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification
Management of Assaultive Behavior certification
