Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical unit position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring EPIC experience and dysrhythmia interpretation skills.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a Short Term Acute Care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Care for acute medicine patients including acute renal failure, pneumonia, pancreatitis, UTI, encephalopathy/cirrhosis, sickle cell pain crisis, chest pain, COPD/asthma exacerbation, syncope, and diabetic ketoacidosis
- Patient ratios of 1:3-5
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
- Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- EPIC charting system required
- Navy blue scrub color required
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (ACLS required by compliance deadline if not held at submission)
- Must pass Relias EKG exam demonstrating interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy including central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience administering high-alert medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair compatible with respirator fit testing
Additional Information
- Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse acute care patient population
- Work within a Magnet-recognized, teaching hospital environment at a Level I Trauma Center
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Candidates residing within a 75-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Contract length is firm and mid-contract cancellations to accept alternate BJC assignments are not permitted
