Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position at an innovative 32-bed unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and a valid VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 32-bed Medical-Surgical unit focused on innovative nursing practice and early adoption of new technologies and equipment
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation required — staff work one summer and one winter holiday per rotation
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Floating to other units required at times to cover staffing needs
  • Meditech EMR experience preferred
  • Hercules beds are used on this unit

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license currently in hand (pending license not accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Core clinical skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, oral suctioning, feeding tube care, heparin/insulin/PCA medication administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care
  • Preferred skills include: port access/management, central line blood draw, PICC line management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, IV insulin protocols, wound vac, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, and telemetry remote monitoring
  • Fit testing is required; candidates must be able to shave for fit testing or provide a provider letter approved by Employee Health Services prior to start
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • On Day 1, the RN will complete a drug screen at Employee Health and will not be required to work a clinical shift — the first clinical shift begins on Day 2 (Tuesday)
  • General RN Orientation is held every other Monday
  • RTO must be disclosed prior to acceptance of the assignment; if one holiday falls within the assignment, expect to work it; if two holidays, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
  • Candidates who have worked permanently at this facility within the past 24 months are not eligible for consideration
  • This facility has a zero-tolerance policy for THC; medical marijuana cards are not accepted, and a drug screen is conducted both during compliance and on Day 1 onsite
