Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring SC or Compact RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a 34-bed hospital
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7, with flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00am-7:30pm
• Required to work every other weekend
• PRN low census on-call requirements apply
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including between like units and sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, insulin administration, and Rapid Response
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and IV therapy
• Skills such as PICC line management, chest tube care, tracheostomy care, and central line blood draws are valued
• Experience with total joint replacement, pre/post neurosurgery, and CVA patient care is a plus
• Royal Blue scrub color required

• First-time travelers may be considered depending on the position
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the facility system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• Block scheduling requests may be submitted for approval but are not guaranteed
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application for consideration
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June-November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
