Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Oncology/Telemetry unit position requiring telemetry interpretation skills and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.

Details

  • Inpatient medical oncology unit within a cancer hospital and research facility
  • Cares for adult and geriatric patients across all solid tumor cancer types, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
  • Supports patients throughout the full cancer journey — from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care transition
  • Unit maintains a strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio goal is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 based on unit needs
  • Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
  • Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling
  • Shifts available: Days (7:00–19:30) and Nights (19:00–7:30), 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • Charting is performed in Epic

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
  • 2 professional references required — at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
  • ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and must be 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
  • All candidates are required to complete an Ohio fingerprinting process — this should be initiated promptly after accepting a position; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will receive a mail-in fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently upon receipt
  • Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through CampusParc, ranging from on-campus garage access to budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
