Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Float Position is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role involves providing general medical and surgical nursing care within a large hospital setting. The position requires adaptability to float between units and perform assessments, care planning, and patient management for a diverse patient population with various diagnoses.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 07/13/2026
• Required Qualifications:
  • At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds
  • IN state or compact RN license (as of 7/1/2020)
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association required
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in general medical and surgical units with a diverse patient population
  • Experience with procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, and minor surgeries (lap chole, incision and drainage, biopsies, amputation)
  • Comfortable utilizing equipment such as Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose meters, and telemetry monitoring
• Additional Information:
  • Float to other medical units within the hospital as needed
  • Completion of supplemental Jump Start hospital and nursing orientation, including Epic classes
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6 during shifts
  • Must wear Caribbean Blue scrubs
  • Up to 24 hours cancellation policy per 13-week contract
