Description:
Must have experience in blood banking.
Rotating every other weekend and working holidays such as Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
Skills required include ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, Accessioning, AHG Crossmatch, and Antibody Typing: Tube Method.
Knowledge of blood banking procedures, blood irradiation, blood specimen storage, and cord blood evaluation is essential.
Experience with crossmatch (Immediate Spin/IgG), Direct Coombs (DAT), electronic crossmatch, and fetal hemoglobin is necessary.
Familiarity with hazardous materials and MSDS is required.
Ability to perform indirect Coombs test, ensure patient identification process, and pipetting is expected.
Knowledge of proper disposal, labeling, quality assurance and controls, and reporting test results is important.
Experience with Rhogam screening, specimen receipt, thawing/cooling of blood products, and transfusion reaction workup is required.
Candidates will float within the facility or to affiliate facilities based on census and unit requirements.
Some experience in trauma level care is preferred.
References may be required during the hiring process.
Candidates should be aware of background policy prior to application submission.
Returning staff must have been gone for one year to be considered for reemployment.
Modules may be required and are typically completed during initial training and annually.
