Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician Profession: MLT Specialty: Laboratory Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 5x8 Hours per Shift: 1200-2100 M-F or 1100-2000 M-F Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Yes Certifications: ASCP, BLS Certification Must-Have: Phlebotomy experience, well-rounded generalist skills in micro, blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microscopy. Description: This is a temporary to permanent position for a Medical Laboratory Technician. The candidate must be flexible with either of the two shift schedules. The technician must have experience with specific laboratory equipment such as Vitek, Vitros 5600, Satellite, and manual ortho gel for blood bank. Experience with Cerner, an electronic health record system, is highly desirable. Phlebotomy is a requirement for this role. The technician will need to be a well-rounded generalist, capable of working in micro, blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and performing microscopy. The candidate must have the ability to plate specimens and conduct gram stains, although micro experience is not as critical. Experience in a small rural health lab environment is beneficial. Candidates should be bench tech savvy and possess phlebotomy skills. The position does not require on-call work. The candidate must be familiar with coagulation systems, hematology, and chemistry equipment. PTO and sick leave will begin accruing upon the first day of employment, though they are unavailable for use until after the completion of a probationary period.
