Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Medical Lab Scientist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of experience preferred License: Must have a valid license prior to start date Certifications: ASCP-MLS or ASCP-BB Must-Have: - Specimen processing experience - ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID - Antibody Typing: Tube Method - Crossmatch-Immediate Spin/IgG - Electronic Crossmatch - Indirect Coombs Test Description: Candidate will be required to float between multiple facilities. Training and orientation will occur on day shift for the first two weeks. The position requires working every other weekend along with one holiday. Certification requirements include ASCP-MLS or ASCP-BB. Candidates are expected to have strong skills in specimen processing and blood bank procedures. Effective support for transfusion needs will be provided for both pediatric and adult patients. Knowledge of various blood bank techniques and methodologies is essential. Specific training will occur on hired shifts after general orientation is completed. Floating is required of all candidates within the facilities or to adjacent facilities. Blood bank experience, particularly with automated equipment and testing methods, is preferred. Candidates must work two out of three major holidays as part of the contract requirements.
