Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Medical Lab Scientist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months License: Must be in hand prior to start date Certifications: - ASCP-MLS or ACP-BB - For MLTs: ASCP-MLT AND ASCP-BB with Blood Bank experience in a large facility Must-Have: - Strong technical skills - Comfortable working alone - Blood Bank experience preferred Description: We are seeking a Medical Lab Scientist. The role involves performing routine and specialized compatibility testing. Preparation of blood components for transfusion is a key responsibility. The lab supports the transfusion needs of various specialty services. Candidates will primarily work on the night shift. The successful candidate will perform specimen processing, ABO/Rh testing, and antibody screening and identification. Experience in various blood bank techniques is essential. Specific training in blood bank procedures will occur after hiring. Candidates should be experienced in high volume and specialized blood banking. Floating to different units may be required. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred experience includes working with automated equipment and the gel testing method. A solid understanding of blood bank protocols is necessary.
