Job Title: Medical Lab Technician Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Blood Bank Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours (20:00 - 06:30) Experience: Minimum of 3 years required, with travel experience preferred License: Must have state license for Louisiana Certifications: Required Must-Have: Blood bank experience Description: The position is for a Medical Lab Technician specializing in blood bank operations. The shift schedule is from 8 PM to 6:30 AM, following a 7 on / 7 off rotation. Candidates must possess experience specifically in blood banking. A valid Louisiana state license is mandatory for this role. Travel experience is required; local candidates will not be considered. The role includes various laboratory responsibilities, focusing on blood specimen processing and analysis. Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in automated instrument use and quality assurance practices. Skills in specimen preparation, reporting test results, and knowledge of proper disposal and labeling protocols are essential. Applicants must be familiar with a range of laboratory tests including hormone testing, cardiac enzymes, and complete blood counts. This position may require floating to different areas within the facility as needed. Candidates should have a solid understanding of laboratory safety standards and hazardous materials handling. It is important to ensure accurate and timely reporting of diagnostic results to support patient care.
