Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Profession: Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practice Nurse Specialty: Certified Medical Assistant Duration: Full-time Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting. License: Must maintain certification as a Medical Assistant. Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - 2 years in a formal Medical Assistant curriculum with special training for Medical Assistants. - Certification as a Medical Assistant. - BLS Certification. Description: The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee will be required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by their supervisor. The Medical Assistant should reflect through personal appearance and attitudes the professional nature of the office. Cleanliness, neatness, the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner, a caring nature, and genuine enjoyment of patients are required personal qualities of this position. Emotional stability is also required due to the nature of the work, which involves care of patients. Discretion is necessary for keeping confidential all matters relating to the practice, its employees, and patients. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and any other procedures that are pertinent to the practice and within the scope of MA certification. Assisting the physician in examinations, which may include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Keeping rooms clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Taking and returning patient phone calls as directed by the Physician. Giving instructions to patients as instructed by the physician. Requisitioning supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock. Assisting with the maintenance of the medical record, including completion of referral forms, lab slips, and other pertinent documentation as requested by the Physician. Assisting patients in getting to and from exam rooms, preparing for exams, as requested, and during procedures. Assisting with any nursing procedure as directed by the Physician. Collaborating with team members and being flexible in performing duties. Assisting in other areas as requested by the Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator, operating within the guidelines of MA certification.
