Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Profession: Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse Specialty: Certified Medical Assistant Duration: Full-time and Part-time positions available Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: - Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting. - At least 2 years in a formal Medical Assistant curriculum, special training for Medical Assistants. License: - Must maintain certification as a Medical Assistant. Certifications: - BLS Certification. Must-Have: - Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner. - Caring nature and genuine enjoyment of patients. - Emotional stability and discretion in keeping confidential matters. Description: The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This job description does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties requested by the supervisor. The Medical Assistant should reflect, through personal appearance and attitudes, the professional nature of the office. Cleanliness and neatness are essential qualities for this position. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and any other procedures pertinent to the practice and within the scope of MA certification. Assist the physician in examinations, which may include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Keep rooms clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Take and return patient phone calls as directed by the physician. Provide instructions to patients as instructed by the physician. Requisition supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock. Assist with the maintenance of medical records, including completion of referral forms, lab slips, and other pertinent documentation as requested by the physician. Assist patients in getting to and from exam rooms, preparing for exams, as requested, and during procedures. Assist with any nursing procedure as directed by the physician. Work as a member of a team and demonstrate flexibility in responsibilities across various areas as requested by the Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator.
