Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant Profession: Medical Assistant Specialty: Clinic Duration: Full-time Shift: Day shift Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum of 3 years demonstrated relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting. License: Must maintain certification as a Medical Assistant. Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification Must-Have: - At least 2 years in a formal Medical Assistant curriculum, special training for Medical Assistants. - Certification as a Medical Assistant. Description: The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This job description does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee may be required to follow any other instructions and perform additional duties requested by their supervisor. The Medical Assistant should reflect, through personal appearance and attitudes, the professional nature of the office. Cleanliness, neatness, and the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner are required personal qualities for this position. A caring nature and genuine enjoyment of patients are essential. Emotional stability is required due to the nature of the work involving patient care. Discretion and confidentiality concerning all matters relating to the practice, its employees, and patients must be maintained. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and any other procedures within the scope of Medical Assistant certification. Assist the physician in examinations, which may include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration. Keep rooms clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Take and return patient phone calls as directed by the physician. Give instructions to patients as instructed by the physician. Requisition supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock. Assist with the maintenance of medical records, including the completion of referral forms, lab slips, and other pertinent documentation as requested by the physician. Assist patients in getting to and from exam rooms, preparing for exams, and during procedures as requested. Assist with any nursing procedure as directed by the physician. Work as a member of a team and be flexible. Assist in other areas as requested by the manager or clinical coordinator, operating within the guidelines of Medical Assistant certification.
